The Jammu and Kashmir administration has greenlit 53 additional manufacturing and industrial units under the New Central Sector Scheme (NCSS). The newly approved projects represent an incoming capital infusion of ₹1,626 crore—with ₹1,294 crore specifically allocated for plant and machinery—and are projected to create 2,902 direct employment opportunities across the Union Territory.

Of the newly sanctioned projects, 35 will be established in the Jammu division, while 18 are slated for the Kashmir division. The roster of approved enterprises features several prominent national brands.
Expansion Beyond Initial Ceilings
This latest approval lifts the total tally of cleared industrial units under the NCSS to 971, up from 918. The previously registered 918 projects account for an estimated ₹12,668 crore in investment (including ₹9,220 crore in plant and machinery) and are expected to generate roughly 48,995 jobs.
The onboarding of additional enterprises follows an August directive from the central Apex Committee—chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah alongside Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The committee authorized the repurposing of approximately ₹5,630.74 crore in unutilized funds from the overarching ₹28,400-crore industrial package.
