Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated that the outcomes of the latest GST Council meeting will fortify the Union Territory’s financial standing and stimulate economic progress.
Representing Jammu and Kashmir as its Finance Minister at the 57th GST Council session in New Delhi—chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman—Abdullah affirmed that the approved measures would bolster local revenues, advance developmental initiatives, and enhance public welfare programs.
The high-level meeting brought together state chief ministers, finance ministers, and senior officials from the central finance ministry. Discussions centered on reinforcing the fiscal autonomy of states and Union Territories, optimizing tax collection mechanisms, and promoting equitable cooperative federalism across the country.
