Srinagar, June 20: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has ordered a detailed investigation into alleged irregularities involving 103 heart-related procedures carried out under the PMJAY-SEHAT health insurance scheme at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag. A doctor linked to the case has been placed under suspension pending the outcome of the inquiry.
According to officials, the action followed a complaint that prompted a preliminary examination. The investigation reportedly uncovered suspected discrepancies in the recording of medical procedures. Allegations include the use of inaccurate entries in the Transaction Management System, deviations from the approved government procurement process, and the collection of money from patients who were entitled to free treatment under the scheme.
J&K Health Minister Sakina Itoo said that the matter is being taken seriously and that the inquiry will be carried out thoroughly. She stated that while the suspended doctor will be given an opportunity to present his defence, the government remains committed to ensuring accountability and safeguarding patient welfare.
Authorities have assured that appropriate action will be taken once the investigation is completed.
“We will conclude the inquiry and will not allow any doctor to play with the lives of patients,” said J&K Health Minister Sakina Itoo on the allegations of misrepresentation of 103 cardiac procedures under the PMJAY-SEHAT scheme at Government Medical College (GMC), Anantnag, in south Kashmir.
