Srinagar, June 23: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has nominated two senior IAS officers to oversee preparations and coordination for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
According to an order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) on June 22, 2026, the officers will perform these responsibilities in addition to their existing assignments.
Under the arrangement, Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary, Youth Services and Sports Department, has been entrusted with overseeing the Pahalgam route of the pilgrimage. Rahul Yadav, IAS, Managing Director of J&K Power Development Corporation and holding additional charge of J&K Power Corporation Limited, has been assigned responsibility for the Baltal route.
The designated officers will supervise preparations related to the Yatra, ensure coordination among concerned departments, and work closely with agencies involved in managing the annual pilgrimage. They have also been directed to remain in regular contact with the Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) and provide periodic updates.
The initiative is intended to enhance coordination among various departments and facilitate efficient management of infrastructure, logistics, public services, security arrangements, and other essential facilities for the large number of pilgrims expected to participate in the Yatra.
