Rajouri, June 23: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today conducted a surprise inspection of the Niabat Office, BDO Office and PWD Office at Thanamandi to assess the functioning of government offices and review the delivery of public services.
During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner visited various sections of the offices, examined official records and took stock of the facilities being provided to the public. He directed the concerned officers to ensure timely disposal of public grievances, proper maintenance of records and effective implementation of government schemes at the grassroots level.
During the inspection, several officials were found absent from their places of posting. Taking serious note of the absenteeism and other deficiencies observed during the visit, the Deputy Commissioner directed initiation of disciplinary proceedings against the concerned officials.
The inspection further revealed that the AEE R&B was not present in the office at the time of inspection. It was also observed that the receipt register was not available for verification.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned authorities to verify the factual position regarding the absence of officials, ascertain whether proper leave or tour permissions were obtained, and seek written explanations from all concerned officers and officials, including the Programme Officer, MGNREGA. He also directed that responsibility be fixed for the non-availability of the receipt register.
He further instructed that appropriate disciplinary action be initiated under the relevant provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services Rules and other applicable service regulations in cases where explanations are found unsatisfactory.
The concerned authority has been asked to submit a detailed Action Taken Report within seven days, indicating the findings of the enquiry and the action initiated against the officials found responsible.
Emphasising the importance of punctuality, accountability and transparency in administration, the Deputy Commissioner directed all officers and officials to perform their duties with dedication and ensure prompt response to public issues.
District and sectoral officers accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the inspection.
