Delhi, June 21: Demonstrators associated with the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), led by its founder Abhijeet Dipke, continued their sit-in at Jantar Mantar on Sunday for a second consecutive day, pressing for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Despite requests from Delhi Police to clear the protest venue, the protesters maintained that they would not leave until their demand was met. Addressing supporters, Dipke appealed to farmers from across the country to join students participating in the demonstration.
The protest comes as nearly 22 lakh candidates are expected to take the NEET re-examination. Meanwhile, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan urged students to appear for the test with confidence and without apprehension. He expressed trust in the National Testing Agency (NTA), state administrations, district authorities, educational institutions, and the student community to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.
During the agitation, Dipke also appealed to the police not to disrupt water supply to restroom facilities at the protest site. Protest organizers alleged that authorities had temporarily switched off lighting and limited access to water, food, and sanitation services. However, protesters later stated that water supply and electricity had been restored.
