BJP Marks Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s Martyrdom Day; Nitin Nabin Hails Article 370 Revocation

New Delhi, June 23: BJP President Nitin Nabin on Tuesday described the removal of Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir as a fitting homage to Syama Prasad Mookerjee, stating that the decision fulfilled a long-standing vision championed by the late nationalist leader.

Speaking after offering floral tributes to Dr. Mookerjee on the occasion of his 73rd martyrdom anniversary at the BJP headquarters, Nabin said that Mookerjee devoted his life to strengthening national unity and safeguarding the country’s integrity. He added that the former leader consistently advocated for a strong and united India.

Nabin noted that Dr. Mookerjee was not only a prominent nationalist thinker but also served as independent India’s first Industry Minister. According to him, the aspirations and ideals for which Mookerjee struggled are now being realized, particularly through the abrogation of Article 370 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The tribute event was attended by BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) B. L. Santosh and senior BJP leader Vasundhara Raje, among others.

Dr. Mookerjee, one of the principal architects of the erstwhile Bharatiya Jana Sangh, had strongly opposed Article 370, arguing that it hindered complete national integration. He became widely known for his slogan advocating one constitution, one head of government, and one national flag for the entire country.

Across India, BJP leaders commemorated his martyrdom day by paying tributes and recalling his contributions to nation-building. In Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra, and other party leaders marked the occasion with floral tributes and plantation drives.
