Srinagar, June 20: Jammu and Kashmir Police has been recognised at the national level for its outstanding contribution to passport-related services, earning the Passport Seva Award for 2025–26 for the second consecutive year.
The recognition came during the Passport Seva Divas celebrations and the Regional Passport Officers’ Conference held from June 17 to 19 at the Sushma Swaraj Bhavan in New Delhi. J&K Police was presented with the Institutional Performance Award in the State Police category for its exemplary work in passport verification and citizen service delivery.
The award, which includes a certificate and an appreciation plaque, was handed over by the Union External Affairs Minister. The honour acknowledges the force’s efforts in maintaining an efficient, transparent, and people-oriented verification system that supports passport issuance across the Union Territory.
This marks the second successive year that J&K Police has secured the distinction, underscoring its consistent focus on improving public services and strengthening governance mechanisms.
Official figures reveal that between April 2025 and March 2026, the department completed verification procedures for 1,64,354 passport applications. The achievement highlights the force’s efficiency in handling a large volume of cases while ensuring timely processing.
Authorities noted that the streamlined verification process has contributed to greater public confidence in passport services, helping residents pursue educational, employment, and travel opportunities with fewer delays.
The award further reflects J&K Police’s commitment to delivering responsive and citizen-friendly services while maintaining high standards of professionalism and administrative excellence.
