Jammu June, 18: The Jammu Development Authority (JDA) carried out a major anti-encroachment operation near the Jammu Railway Station on Wednesday, resulting in the removal of over 30 unauthorized structures and the recovery of government land estimated to be worth around ₹10 crore.
According to officials, the drive focused on illegally established commercial establishments, including roadside eateries and shops that had occupied strategically located urban land without permission.
The operation was conducted jointly by JDA officials and the district administration. During the exercise, approximately half an acre of prime land situated opposite Mangal Market, behind Vaishnavi Dham, and in the vicinity of the Jammu Railway Station was brought back under government control.
JDA Vice-Chairman Rupesh Kumar emphasized that public property belongs to the people and must be protected from encroachment and unlawful occupation. He reiterated the authority’s commitment to safeguarding public assets and ensuring planned urban development.
