
Tamil Nadu, June 17: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Tuesday inaugurated a two-day orientation programme for members of the 17th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly at Kalaivanar Arangam in Chennai. The initiative aims to familiarize legislators with Assembly procedures, parliamentary practices, and the functioning of various government departments.
Addressing the gathering, Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar highlighted that a large number of members in the current House are serving their first term as legislators, with many being young representatives. He noted that the training sessions are designed to help MLAs understand the rules governing Assembly proceedings, including parliamentary conduct and guidelines on debates and discussions.
The programme will feature sessions led by former Assembly Secretaries and senior officials, who will provide practical insights into legislative procedures and the responsibilities of elected representatives. The training is intended to strengthen the effectiveness of lawmakers and ensure smoother functioning of the House.
