New Delhi, June 12: In a significant boost to India’s indigenous defence capabilities, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully carried out three major flight tests over two days, demonstrating advanced missile defence and maritime strike technologies.
The trials, conducted on June 10 and 11, highlighted the effectiveness of India’s evolving defence architecture against both aerial and naval threats. Among the key achievements was the successful validation of a multi-tier Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) system, designed to detect, track, and neutralize incoming hostile missiles at different stages of flight.
During the tests, interceptor missiles accurately engaged their assigned targets and destroyed them, confirming the operational readiness and precision of the country’s layered missile shield.
Another major milestone was the successful maiden flight test of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Medium Range (NASM-MR). The missile is expected to strengthen the Indian Navy’s capability to engage hostile warships and maritime targets with greater accuracy and effectiveness.
Defence officials described the successful trials as a major step forward in India’s pursuit of self-reliance in defence technology. The achievements reflect the growing strength of indigenous research and development efforts aimed at enhancing national security and strategic preparedness.
The successful demonstrations reaffirm India’s commitment to developing cutting-edge defence systems capable of addressing emerging security challenges across land, sea, and air domains.
