Cabinet Reshuffle on the Table After GST Council Session, Says J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah

Chief Minister of J&K speak to the Media at Srinagar

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah stated that decisions regarding a ministerial reshuffle will be finalized following consultations with National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah, once he returns from the GST Council meeting in New Delhi.
Speaking to journalists during the opening of renovated sports facilities at Gindun Stadium in Rajbagh, Srinagar, the Chief Minister clarified the timeline for prospective changes. He noted that while he had intended to review the cabinet directly after the recent assembly session, the upcoming official engagement in Delhi required a brief delay before holding formal party discussions.
During the interaction, Abdullah addressed several other administrative and political matters:
Bureaucratic Realignments: Commenting on the administrative transfers initiated by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Abdullah acknowledged the dual dynamics of governance in the Union Territory, adding that the administration will collaborate constructively with the newly placed officers in their assigned roles.
Hiring Guidelines:

On the finalization of government recruitment rules, the Chief Minister confirmed that vetting is in its closing stages. He explained that authorities are carefully resolving initial discrepancies and legal loopholes to ensure the framework withstands judicial scrutiny before formal notification.
Political & Electoral Remarks: Offering congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 25 straight years leading state and national governments, Abdullah remarked on the sustained electoral success required for such a tenure. Separately, he voiced reservations over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists, alleging previous delimitation exercises were designed to favor the ruling party at the Centre, while also questioning the official inaction against media reports that triggered recent Opposition demonstrations.

Sports Infrastructure Expansion:

Highlighting the new additions at the Gindun complex—including an indoor gymnastics arena and Kashmir’s first year-round, solar-heated Olympic-sized pool—the Chief Minister said the territory is actively looking past conventional athletics, promising that hiring to address facility staffing needs will proceed swiftly once background verifications conclude.
